Rebel est. 2002

Hotel Josef is rooted in the world of architecture and modern design. Built in 2002 to meet the needs of a city embracing a new era, it was designed by architect Eva Jiřičná to fulfill a vision of contemporary hospitality. Every detail, from the spiral staircase to the smallest gesture of care, reflects her vision. As part of the Design Hotels community, Josef celebrates individuality over convention. We invite you to do the same — to shape your stay, in your own way.

THE ROOMS

Yellow velvet carpets and dimmed light lead you to your room. Mirrored walls capture light, clear partitions open the bedroom to the bath, and limestone surfaces offer a contrasting softness, all framed with clean lines and warmed with color accents.

The upper floors offer clear views of the towers, domes, and spires that make up Prague’s stunning skyline. Whether it’s the sunrise gilding the rooftops or sunset with a cocktail in hand, the best view is from your room.

Josef has continued to evolve through careful renovations. At every step, we respect the original vision and pay meticulous attention to detail. Industrial materials remain at the core, complemented by iconic design pieces and light sculptures by Flos and Luceplan.

Experience Josef — and Prague — through all the senses.

Rebel est. 2002

When Hotel Josef opened in 2002, the exterior blended in with the historical surroundings, and the interior a minimalist aesthetic. The choice was intentional. Josef became Prague’s first design hotel.

Architect Eva Jiřičná envisioned spaces shaped by clarity, precision, and light. The spiral staircase in the lobby is her philosophy made tangible — its form as pure as its purpose.

We named the lobby bar EVA’s in tribute to her vision, integrity, and determination — qualities all the best rebels share.

A city’s history is written in its architecture, but few buildings represent such a turning point — the moment a city embraced a new era of design. Since then, Josef has become an icon.
